Me vs. Internet
What can I say? It was love at first sight, ten years ago. I couldn’t get enough of the dial-up connection, the pokey looking webpages, and the temptation for AOL chatrooms. It was new, it was buggy but it was something completely revolutionary to my eyes. I was in fourth grade, what did you expect? Although somehow I believe this was the same reaction that many people had, regardless of age, when it made its debut decades ago. It had the enormous potential to succeed and the enormous potential to “crash and burn.” As we can see, crashing and burning was not the case. It has opened up a vast resource for communication, data transfer, and entertainment. What scares me is its effect on our livelihood - especially in the Journalism world. I am adhering to the change but what about the old timers? They are deeply rooted in THEIR WAY of going about business. I foresee equal tragedy and success in the future. All we can really do is embrace this new technology. No matter how unfamiliar or lucrative it may be. I hope for the best.
